Master Swarit 9-year-old who is in fourth grade of Harvest International School, Bengaluru who loves play football and robotics.
In the time of parents expectations of child performing in class ; Swarit is not like most 9-year-olds. From the listing Talks by brilliant kids and teens* ; Master Swarit could to be the youngest Indian speaker at the TEDx talks.
Master Swarit idea was ‘children can collaborate and solve problem’. Under the guidance of Mr. Henrich who is in third year of engineering from Coimbatore and intern at QtPi Robotics a Bengaluru based Elevate 100 firm.
On 25th Jan 2019, duo, Master Swarit and Mr. Henrich presented their idea on ‘I love robots but am afraid of people’ at TEDxBalajiITS, Warangal. Duo made people eye drool at a TEDx event through his innovative project of feeding aquarium fishes in absence of keepers. The idea was presented by Henrich and Swarit on international platform TEDx.
“I always wanted to have aquarium but wondered who would feed in absence. Especially when the family is out for a vacation. I took help from Mr. Henrich and my mother, Mrs. Manisha Bhargava on the same to design a fish feeder. So that fishes won’t starve and also family could have a vacation without any worry. Hence, I came up with Sam,” Master Swarit said.
Usually aquarium owners would end up giving vacation food to the fishes. Those are nothing but steroids and unhealthy. “Design thinking that consists of the quantity of feed, interval of food, and metabolism were need to be considered,” Master Swarit said.
He said overfeeding leads to many issues, like undigested food which fishes spit out when overfed and also excessive digestive waste. This is likely to make tank toxic and nitrate levels will rise and brings down oxygen levels in the water hence making water unsuitable for the fishes. So, it’s an important parameter to be taken into consideration. “Time is also vital as fishes usually take 16-24 hours to digest the food,” says Master Swarit
He designed a fish feeder using a servo that will rotate for a predetermined time to feed the fish. In order to this to happen, he programmed and created an app.
Their rousing speech was applauded by the attendees and organisers. Master Swarit would like to create awareness among peers and aquarium lovers on the solution.
Master Swarit and Mr. Henrich would like to organise a TEDx event for youth in the near future. One can expect more amazing things from Master Swarit in the near future.
